A coalition of renewable energy leaders has presented their plans to build a 6-gigawatt hybrid, wind and solar plant in Western Australia with the specific goal of exporting power to Indonesia through subsea electrical cables as reported by Clean Technica.
The proposed project is called the Asian renewable Energy Hub with the goal of solving several key energy and sustainable development issues that are presently facing Indonesia. The wind and solar generating hardware would be manufactured in Indonesia, which in turn create a new source of skilled, high-tech jobs and supporting the development of the supply chain.
The project will be built in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia and is expected to start construction in 2023 and be finished and be operational in 2029. The first phase of the project will cost around $10 billion.
