Australia just joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA). The ISA aims to promote the implementation of solar technology and solar energy uptake among countries that lie in the tropics as reported by The Business Standard.

Members of ISA will deepen their cooperation in solar research, minimise technology costs and harmonise international standards. By harnessing solar energy, it will expand its access to electricity, especially to developing countries. Australia’s joining the alliance also is in line with the government’s commitment to clean energy cooperation and meeting the Paris Agreement targets.

Australia’s expertise in solar technologies and research will be shared globally with the formal creation of the International Solar Alliance.

Julie Bishop, Australia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs.
