Australian Corporations Are Taking Energy Security Into Their Own Hands

Alan Finkel, Australia’s chief scientist is due to report on the future security of the national electricity market later this week.

Finkel is expected to make recommendations on low emissions target or probably some kind of emissions intensity scheme to help the country reach its climate targets and restore the certainty to the energy market.

Despite the political arguments over energy policy, the prices of renewables keep on going down, even while electricity prices are up. Thus, some big businesses take matters into their own hands, by way of investing in large-scale solar projects to rein their power costs. Telstra and Sun Metals are two large companies getting involved with renewables.
