ABC News reported that an Australian team debuted their solar car in the Cruiser class of the World Solar Challenge and was one of only three cars that finished the route.

Queensland’s TeamArrow founder Cameron Tuesley said that the team is made up of volunteer university students. Since the team and the car have proven that it can get from Darwin to Adelaide, they will be setting up the car for road use with proper road tires, air-conditioning, a different motor and radios.

The goal is to make the vehicle available for sale by the end of the year. The initial cost may fall to $250,000 due to the labour-intensive carbon fibre hand-moulding for each vehicle.
