China has some of the worst air pollution in the world and the country’s top contributor to air pollution is burning coal as reported by Business Insider.

To reverse the effects of pollution and improve the country’s air quality, the Chinese government will spend about $360 billion on clean energy projects and create 13 million new renewable energy jobs by the year 2020, making China one of the world’s biggest renewable energy investors.

The Chinese government’s latest project is a giant solar farm on top of a former coal mine in the province of Anhui. Last year the 166,000 solar array was switched on and generated 40 megawatts of power. The output is enough to generate power to 15,000 households. At present, it’s the largest floating solar generator and will operate for up to 25 years.
