Hounville High School Wins Energy Prize and Uses it To Install Solar Power

ABC News reports Hounville High School of Tasmania has won the Global High Schools Zayed Future Energy Prize, worth $133,000.

Huonville High could really be leading the globe in education and community leadership in sustainability and renewable energy.

Here are the details of the winnings:

  • The school spent part of the prize money to install 125 solar panels and monitoring technology.
  • Students and school staff will be able to monitor the solar power system’s efficiency.
  • The project is teaching students about renewable energy: its effect on future generations, the environmental and cost benefits to the school.
