Renewable energy developer, BayWa r.e., has sold its first Australian solar energy project to infrastructure investment company Lighthouse Infrastructure. The project is a 20 megawatts utility-scale plant that is still under construction.

The project is located in Hughenden, Queensland. Daniel Gafke, BayWa r.e. solar managing director said that the country’s high level of sunlight makes it an ideal solar market.

The solar project has been funded through a 13-year power purchase agreement. The project will be Lighthouse’s second utility-scale solar PV investment.

Mathias Taft, BayWa AG board member said that the company shares a goal with Lighthouse in increasing solar energy in Australia. The solar plant is expected to be operational by the end of October 2017.
