New Darlington Point Solar Farm Expected to be Generating 685,000MWh Each Year From 2020

Renew Economy recently reported on one of New South Wales’ newest and largest solar farms in development.

Darlington Point Solar Farm Stakeholders

The solar farm recently reached financial close and construction will start soon.

The stakeholders of the project include:

  • Developer: Edify Energy.
  • Investor: Octopus Investments.
  • Construction: Signal Energy Australia and Canadian Solar.
  • Debt Financing: Commonwealth Bank and Westpac.

The project also has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Delta Electricity, a coal generation company.

Darlington Point Solar Farm Project Details

Here are the key details about the new solar farm project:

  • The Darlington Point solar farm will be one of the biggest solar farms in Australia until other projects commence construction (Yarabee Solar Farm will be larger).
  • The solar farm is expected to be completed and generating electricity by early 2020.
  • Once up and running the solar farm will generate 685,000MWh of renewable energy each year.
  • The solar farm will be accompanied by a 100MWh battery storage system.
  • The project will be another example of a solar farm and coal generator working together to generate energy in Australia.
  • More than $450 million has been invested to finance the project.
