Queensland is top for the first time in Australia’s source of renewable energy jobs. The state provided 6,500 renewable jobs in August as reported by The Guardian.

The high numbers of jobs are due to large-scale and wind generation projects being constructed in Queensland. The state overtook New South Wales by 1,772 renewable jobs in August.

Key takeaways include:

  • The index found that solar rooftop systems installed last month alone would save households $180 million over the next 10 years.
  • Queensland’s 50% RET by 2030 has made a $5 billion investment in the pipeline.
  • These projects will provide a further 3,200 jobs and generate 5,000 megawatts of renewable energy.
  • Australia’s biggest wind farm project, the 453 megawatts Cooper’s Gap project was committed in August.
