Small NSW Town Goes Renewable

ABC News reported that Tyalgum in New South Wales is steadily switching to be Australia’s first town to completely be off the power grid and exclusively using renewable resources.

The project was spearheaded by businessman Andrew Price as he launched the Tyalgum Energy Project using a government grant that funded the feasibility studies. The plan is for the majority of the town’s energy to be generated by rooftop solar PVs.

We are going out and putting as much solar behind the meter as we can to just show the community that this is real and that it is something we can achieve and that is where we hopefully will create our zero net emissions

– Andrew Price, Businessman and founder of Tyalgum Energy Project
