Solar Residents Are Sharing Energy Through Virtual Power Plants

Australian Chief Scientist Alan Finkel released a report on the potential for energy storage as reported by ABC News.

With ever-increasing prices of electricity, many Australian households have joined the virtual power station revolution. New technologies are enabling households with solar PVs and battery storage to feed their surplus power to other residents in the network using the same technology and then share power whenever they need it.

Just imagine yourself and your home and your solar system, and imagine hundreds and thousands of other users — might be in Melbourne, might be in Sydney, and might be in Brisbane— and whenever one of them is lacking in electricity the others are supplying electricity to you.
