A 30-megawatt battery to enhance South Australia’s power supply network will be built on Yorke Peninsula, west of Adelaide as reported by ABC News.

  • The project will cost around $30 million.
  • Power network provider ElectraNet will design, build and own the battery plant.
  • ElectraNet will the lease the battery to an energy retailer and the Federal Government.

This project, in conjunction with the Tesla battery system being built in South Australia, will increase their solar power usage.

According to the Federal Government, the Yorke Peninsula battery will help balance the South Australia electricity network and minimise the operating pressures on the Haywood interconnectors between South Australia and Victoria.
