The South Australian government has approved grants for four pumped hydro storage projects before the March 17th election [as reported by The Guardian.](https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/feb/08/south-australia-announces-grants-worth-87m-for-pumped-hydro-storage)

The grants range from $500,000 to $4.7 million and feasibility studies have been promised for the pumped hydropower plant near Port Germein, Port Augusta and Whyalla.

British billionaire Sanjeev Gupta’s GFG alliance will receive $500,000 towards a $1.7 million feasibility study for a pumped hydro plant located in a mine near the Middleback Ranges.
