South Australia Received $8.7 Million Grant for Pumped Hydro Storage

The South Australian government has approved grants for four pumped hydro storage projects before the March 17th election as reported by The Guardian.

The grants range from $500,000 to $4.7 million and feasibility studies have been promised for the pumped hydropower plant near Port Germein, Port Augusta and Whyalla.

The key to lowering power prices in South Australia is boosting competition and these projects have the potential to dispatch cheap renewable energy when demand is high

British billionaire Sanjeev Gupta’s GFG alliance will receive $500,000 towards a $1.7 million feasibility study for a pumped hydro plant located in a mine near the Middleback Ranges.
