[The Guardian reported](https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2017/sep/05/renewables-helping-secure-electricity-but-undersupply-risk-in-short-term-report-says) that Turnbull confirms the government seeks to extend the life of Australia’s oldest coal power plant.

AGL Chief Executive had this to say in response:

Coal power is not the way to reduce risk of energy supply interruptions. Adoption of more renewables and helping to foster a good renewable economy in Australia and reduce carbon emissions is the best way to achieve this.
