The Victorian Labor government’s Solar Homes program has notched up a new milestone, with the amount of new PV capacity installed via the $1.3 billion rebate scheme passing the 1 gigawatt mark this week. The 1GW milestone was announced on Friday by Victorian energy minister Lily D’Ambrosio, who in June described her role as minister for Solar Homes as one of her proudest political achievements.
A $5 million community-driven solar farm in the New South Wales Shoalhaven will power up next month, with 20 per cent of the power already allocated to the City of Sydney. The 8,000-panel solar farm at Nowra Hill spans 10 hectares and will generate 3 megawatts of power each day.
South Australia has once again reached a negative electricity demand, with its solar photovoltaic (PV) network causing the minimum operational demand to hit a new record low of 104MW. The record was set on 21 November 2021, down 45 per cent from the previous record of 188MW on 31 October 2021.
