An energy security task force has supplied recommendations to the Tasmanian State Government. The recommendations will be implemented within the coming months. The State Government has acknowledged the need for a more conservative approach following the 2015 power crisis as reported by ABC News.

The report from the task force indicates no current problems with Tasmania’s energy security, however, provides some guidelines to keep security in check.

Tasmania’s current renewable attributes include:

  • 93% of power in Tasmania is renewable, predominantly from hydro power.
  • New wind farms will add 7% to renewable generation in the state, expected to be up by 2020 so Tasmania can meet its 2022 goal.
