Tesla’s plan of building the world’s biggest lithium-ion battery in South Australia has thrown doubt on a project being planned by renewable energy company Zen Energy.
The company is now considering a proposal for a $100 million solar plant combined with a 100-megawatt battery located at Port Augusta.
Ross Garnaut, Zen chairman expressed fears that there would not be enough room in the market for the two projects. Asked if Zen might abandon their proposal, Garnaut said that it may happen.
The Port Augusta solar plant and storage was promising hundreds of jobs during construction.
The Federal Government already made their commitment to some funding but the South Australian Government has not put in anything at this stage.
