Victorians will soon be eligible for new power rebates from power giants EnergyAustralia, Origin and AGL. Hundreds of dollars will be back to customers on standing offers or on the expired market offers as reported by ABC News.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews said that with the rebates, the government has put big energy retailers on notice. He also said that 285,000 Victorian households will be given $250 to $720 worth of rebates starting from January 1, 2018. The report also recommended regulating prices once again after it was regulated 8 years ago.
Mr. Andrews would not state what the government had offered the said retailers about the new rebates. The new rebates announcement was made after the said energy retailers were preparing to hike up prices for average customers by next year.
